Qian Meilin is a ‘Provincial Level’ artist in contemporary porcelains from Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Provence, China. A ‘Provincial Level’ artist is one level below the ‘Country Level’ artist. She was born in Changshu, Jiangsu Province in February, 1963. She graduated from the Jingdezhen Ceramic Staff University in Jingdezhen in 1987. She was part of the research team for the Jiangxi Ceramic Research Institute. She was the student of the ‘Country Level’ artist Qi Peicai.

Flowers are her style. Her specialty is painting the lotus, wistaria and the lily. She used a unique technique she created to inlay coving combine with under glaze blue & white and inlay coving combine with Doucai of contrasting colors. Many of her works were exhibited in various prestigious exhibitions and won many awards.

Qian Meilin was the recipient of many awards for pieces such as the over glaze, “The Lotus”, the blue & white inlay coving “The Lotus”, “Qing Xiang Fo Zui”, “The Seek” and “The Matinal’. Her award winning piece, “The Dew” was collected by the Enba Modern Art Galley of Japan. “The Lotus” was collected by Zhong Nan Hai Ziguang Pavilion. Many of her works have been published by China Contemporary Porcelain Arts well known artist unique fine ceramics collection and Jingdezhen Ceramic Omnibus Publishing. Her books “The Young and Middle-aged Ceramic Art, “Qian Meilin Ceramic Collection” were published in 2001.
